1. Overview
CodeMyContacts ("the app") is a contact management utility that helps users add correct country codes (+91 for India, +353 for Ireland) to phone numbers saved without a country code. It also detects and removes duplicate contact entries.
This Privacy Policy explains what permissions the app uses, why it needs them, and how your data is handled.
2. Permissions Used
The app requests the following Android permissions:
- READ_CONTACTS — to read your saved contacts and identify phone numbers that are missing a country code.
- WRITE_CONTACTS — to update phone numbers with the correct country code (+91 or +353) and to delete duplicate contact entries when you choose to do so.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS (optional) — to send a notification when the background watcher detects new contacts saved without a country code. This permission is only requested if you enable the background watcher in Settings.
3. Data Collection
We collect no data. The app does not collect, record, upload, or transmit any of your contact information, phone numbers, or personal data to any server, database, or third party.
All processing — reading contacts, formatting numbers, detecting duplicates — happens entirely on your device using Android's standard Contacts API.
4. Data Storage
The app stores only the following on your device using Android's SharedPreferences (local app storage):
- Your chosen default country setting (India / Ireland / Ask)
- Your scan filter preference (all contacts / last 7 days / last 30 days)
- Whether the background watcher is enabled
- A history of past scan runs (count of contacts updated, date and time)
This data is stored locally and is deleted when you uninstall the app. It is never backed up to any external service by the app itself.
5. Third-Party Services
CodeMyContacts does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. No third party receives any data from this app.
6. Background Processing
If you enable the Background Watcher in Settings, the app uses Android's WorkManager to run a periodic check (approximately every 6 hours) that reads your contacts and sends a local notification if it finds numbers without a country code. This check runs entirely on-device and no data leaves your phone.
You can disable this at any time from the Settings screen inside the app.
7. Children's Privacy
This app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
If this Privacy Policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
